Ricky Hernandez '02

Ricky joined the Alumni Association as chief operating officer in April 2018. He previously worked for nearly 10 years in the Pima County School Superintendent’s Office. In his previous role, he oversaw the financial, legal and operational aspects of the office and provided financial management to 17 school districts in Pima County.
A native of Nogales, Arizona, Ricky is a proud UA alumnus and is active in the Tucson community. Most recently he was one of 36 Arizonans selected as a Flinn-Brown Fellow through the Arizona Center for Civic Leadership. He also is the board president for the Arizona Association of School Business Officials. In that role, he is the first-ever board president from an Arizona university.
Ricky is a former UA Hispanic Alumni Club scholar. He served on the UAHA board from 2010-12 including roles as treasurer and president. He continued as an alumni volunteer from 2013-17 as a member of the Wildcat for Life Leadership Council and UAAA Governing Board. He has provided service to various local community and nonprofit boards including Ben’s Bells.
