The Arizona Wildcats honored Trevor Hoffman during their season opener against the University of Massachusetts–Lowell at Hi Corbett Field in February. Hoffman’s No. 15 jersey was retired in a special ceremony.

Hoffman was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in July 2018 after an 18-year career as a dominant relief pitcher, mostly for the San Diego Padres. Hoffman totaled 601 saves in his career and was a seven-time All-Star.

Hoffman played for Arizona in 1988 and 1989 as a shortstop before transitioning to the mound as a professional. Hoffman is the second former Wildcat baseball player to officially have his jersey retired, joining Terry Francona.
