Group Awards

Since 1943, the University of Arizona Alumni Association has presented accomplished alumni and friends with distinguished awards. Our goal is to recognize college alumni councils and advisory boards for outstanding achievement and/or service to the University of Arizona, their colleges, the UA Alumni Association, and their communities.

All nominations must be submitted pursuant to the Awards Program deadlines that can be found hereA nomination must include the completed application form and required supporting documents.

Judging

The Awards and Recognition Committee of the University of Arizona Alumni Association’s governing board reviews the nominees for each award and makes the final selection subject to the approval of the board. The UA Alumni Association reserves the right to suggest alternate awards based on a nominee’s qualifications.

Notification

Upon approval, award recipients are notified via a congratulatory letter from the vice president of alumni relations and president of the UA Alumni Association. The nominating individual or organization and the affiliated college are sent a copy of the letter.

Please note: The University of Arizona Alumni Association reserves the right to determine the number of awards given, and to suggest alternate venues for presentation of awards. The UA Alumni Association Awards and Recognition staff members are eager to work with the nominating individual or entity to facilitate an appropriate venue for presentation of the award, including the participation of the Association in the award ceremony. We also will assist in disseminating award publicity.

UA College Alumni Council Award of Excellence
UA College Advisory Board Award of Excellence — est. 2000

The UA College Alumni Council Award of Excellence or UA College Advisory Board Award of Excellence is presented to the alumni councils or advisory boards of colleges that have an official representative on the University of Arizona Alumni Association’s Wildcat for Life Leadership Council that have distinguished themselves in the following ways, which must be detailed on the nomination form.

  • Have current elected or appointed officers and board members
  • Maintain bylaws or a mission statement
  • During the previous academic year, have:
    • Held a minimum of two board meetings
    • Held a minimum of two college alumni/outreach events
    • Maintained communication links with its college dean or dean's designee
    • Maintained communication with the University of Arizona Alumni Association

Form of award: Certificate for each board member

UA College Alumni Council Red and Blue Award
UA College Advisory Board Red and Blue Award — est. 2000

The UA College Alumni Council Red and Blue Award or UA College Advisory Board Red and Blue Award is selected by the president of the UA Alumni Association and given to the alumni council or college advisory board of a college represented on the UA Alumni Association’s Wildcat for Life Leadership Council that has provided the most distinguished service to its college and the university during the previous academic year.

The college alumni council or advisory board must meet the minimum requirements of UA College Alumni Council Award of Excellence or UA College Advisory Board Award of Excellence. In addition, selection is based on consideration of the following criteria, which must be detailed on the nomination form.

  • Number and quality of written communications to the college’s alumni
  • Number and quality of alumni programs, projects, and events, including local alumni involvement
  • Participation in the college's Homecoming activities, including number and quality of events
  • Number and quality of active communication links with its college dean or dean's designee
  • Number and quality of active communication links with the University of Arizona Alumni Association
Form of award: Plaque or other form of recognition agreed upon between the UA Alumni Association and the college.
Time of award: Special event to be determined between nominator and UA Alumni Association
Number of awards: One per academic year
