The Statues Walked: Solving the Mystery of Easter Island

Join fellow alumni, supporters and friends of the University of Arizona for a social hour followed by an engaging presentation by Terry L. Hunt, who became dean of the UA Honors College in September. 

A long-time leader in Honors education, Hunt brings new leadership and an exciting vision for the future of the Honors College. A world-renowned expert on Rapa Nui (Easter Islands), Hunt will share his life’s work of archaeological research and expertise on this fascinating part of the world. Hunt’s book, "The Statues that Walked: Unraveling the Mystery of Easter Island," won a national award and was featured as a cover story in National Geographic in July 2012. Dean Hunt’s research is the basis for a NOVA-National Geographic television documentary.

Time:

  • 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. – Social hour (includes two beverages and light hors d’oeuvres)
  • 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. – Presentation

Cost:

  • UAAA members: $30 per person 
  • Non-members: $35 per person
