Travelers woke at the break of light to witness the engineering feat of the trip's highlight, our passage through the Panama Canal. We celebrate the 100th anniversary of the canal and were greeted along the way by waiving onlookers and canal residents watching our cruise ship pass. There are three sets of locks throughout the length of the Panama Canal and it took us about nine hours to transit the 50-mile canal connecting the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. The science of it all is too complicated to explain in a sentence of a paragraph, but the day of peaceful travel along Panama was historic and epic.
