We began today with a 5 a.m. wake up call, a bit early, but well worth it. Our goal, to see Africa's endangered black rhino. The game reserve we are staying at has a breeding program of the rhinos, which are very rare.
Even on the reserve the chance of seeing them is less then 50 percent. Our guide, James, said that our best chance of seeing the rhinos was early in the morning, so we hopped in the Range Rover and left as quickly as possible.
We passed a small herd of zebra, but didn't slow down, because our goal was to see the rhino. It was well worth it, as we found several rhino including two babies. On our drive back we came across several interesting birds and a small herd of giraffe.
Suffice to say, it was an fantastic morning.
