Then and Now

Then: Tents on the Mall, a lively assembly of campus groups with a food court, live band, and family-friendly activities like face-painting, began in 1985 in commemoration of the UA Centennial. It’s a wide-ranging showcase of student and alumni activities, with various student clubs, fraternities, sororities, colleges, and alumni participating.

Now: Part of Homecoming for close to three decades, Tents on the Mall begins several hours before the game on Saturday and has become the go-to place for students and alumni to meet friends at the start of the day’s festivities. This year, more than 60 campus and alumni groups have reserved tents.
