Travelers woke at the break of light to witness the engineering feat of the trip's highlight, our passage through the Panama Canal. We celebrate the 100th anniversary of the canal and were greeted along the way by waiving onlookers and canal residents watching our cruise ship pass.

After a day of sailing the sea, we were ready for Puerto Limon, Costa Rica, where travelers were off to a day of hiking the rain forrest, zip lining, white water rafting, or searching for sloths in the tall trees of the jungle.

We woke to the colorful island of Roatan, Honduras where divers and snorkelers come for a feast of fish known as one of the best places for underwater sporting.

On to Belize, the land of the Maya, the tropical coast included a hike to a cave, known by the Mayans as the entrance point to the underworld. It was cool, dark, quiet and tempting. The steamy walk to the inner depths of the cave and back out lead us to a blue pool of natural water.

Moving on from Cozumel, we ventured to Costa Maya, Mexico, found in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, where the world's second largest coral reef can be found nearby in Banco Chinchorro.

We arrived in Cozumel, Mexico where snorkeling in the crystal clear and turquoise blue waters was mesmerizing and magical as colorful little fish grazed your toes and brushed by you in the gentle waters of the Caribbean.

Believe it or not, the Internet connection in the middle of the bush in Zambia can be a bit unreliable. So I'm making this last post from the Atlanta airport where I have a five-hour layover before my connecting flight home to Tucson.

Today we docked in Key West, a quaint island town, just 90 miles from Cuba. With balmy weather and a mild breeze we took a trolly from the ship port to town while crossing the landing dock's of a U.S. Naval base.

While our tents are luxurious, some including private spas, the lodge is still more rustic then previous stays.
