Annually, the University of Arizona Alumni Association presents this premier event to recognize the achievements and significant contributions of Wildcat alumni from each college.

2015 Alumni of the Year Awards

The 2015 Alumni of the Year Awards ceremony will be held during Homecoming weekend on Friday, October 23 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Join the celebration in the Grand Ballroom South, Student Union Memorial Center.

Every degree-granting college is invited to participate in this annual Homecoming tradition. This event gives colleges the opportunity to honor, highlight, and profile accomplished alumni while increasing outreach and development.

Each award winner is profiled in a video that can be used as a keepsake for the award winner and other publicity purposes.

The cost for each college to participate is $750.

2015 Alumni of the Year Awards

We know that many colleges seek an early decision on their nominations in order for these high-profile alumni to get the award ceremony date on their busy calendars. Many colleges also integrate their award winners into other Homecoming programming, so need the information as soon as possible. With this in mind, we have moved up the initial review deadline.

March 15, 2015 is the initial deadline to submit nominations. Nominations submitted by this date will receive an awards determination by April 15, 2015.  Nominations submitted after April 15, 2015 will be considered by the awards committee on a rolling basis until the final deadline date of June 15, 2015

No additional nominations for the Alumni of the Year award will be accepted by the awards committee after June 15, 2015.

The following information must be included and uploaded with your submission in order to be considered:

  • Two letters of recommendation: one from the dean of the nominating college and the second from another person (see nomination criteria below)
  • A separate resume' or detailed biographical statement or information on the nominee

Additional information about the nominee may be included from the Internet and other sources. Please indicate the sources and ensure that the information is both up-to-date and accurate.

Nomination criteria to be included in the dean's letter of recommendation

Being as detailed as possible, describe why and how the nominee has helped to ensure the college's success and future by bestowing honor or recognition on the college, and/or making significant contributions of time or resources to further the college's mission.

Criteria used in the Association’s Awards and Recognition Program for the various award categories may be a useful reference in determining extraordinary achievement that has bestowed honor or recognition on the college. For example, extraordinary achievement can be accomplished in a variety of areas including professional achievement, humanitarian or public service, advocacy for education, distinguished volunteerism or service to students, to name a few. The award categories can be found here.

Please note:  We encourage the nominating college to include plenty of detail — interesting detail — about the nominee and his/her professional and personal background. The awards committee vets each nomination very carefully. In addition, this information will be incorporated into the award citation and video presentation for each approved nominee.Once the nominee has been approved, the college may be asked to supply additional information to be used in the award citation.
